Evaluation
After completing this unit of Enterprise & Entrepreneurship, i have come to the conclusion that this journey has been exciting and stressful with other units with it. I have learnt a lot about starting of a business and making money. It requires motivation, commitment, organization and ambition. Getting yourself out there to sell your product isn't easy, but i have learnt there are any ways of doing that. Keeping to budget and schedule times and etc. I have always seen myself to be a designer to any item, whether it is designing a character, or a clothing, or even illustration; I believe I can do it.
I am definitely looking on continue on the brand Urbanize-it and see how far it takes me with members in this. Doing this unit has equipment me with basic knowledge that is needed to start and push toward a small business/trade.
Summative Feedback
My Group Urbanize-it had our summative which was an presentation that we had with two fellow tutors. we had our meeting at 10.45 with only Linnea Dimitrious who was very interested in what we have done since the last time she saw us. Me and Shuhel pitched our brand clothing company briefly and straight to the point. we told her how we Researched, Scheduled, Budgeted, Market, Promoted and used statergies to over come trials and saving money.
We came prepared with a Powerpoint presentation demonstrating all the information. We also came with a copy of the T-shirt and a urbanize-it flyer that we made. Linnea was very amazed with the outcome of what we have done. She definitely saw potential in the clothing brand and Design look. She also saw that there was a big market out there for this.
We told her how we wasn't able to sell alot of our t-shirts where we only sold 5 tops at the price of £15. These were through friends and family. we did also go out there to sell the product in shops which was good cause we received critical feedback. Two shop were happy enough to sell our product in their shop. They give it 6 out of 10 on the brand design.
Linnea give us some valid feedback on how its about how you market the product. She also suggested that we should of sold it for £25-£35 Starting price at least. This was good feedback she give us, which we will take in account for next time. I found her advice useful.

Promoting Outside
Now it was time to start promoting the Brand T-Shirts outside into Shops. Trying to get the product to sell isnt going to be easy in a short amount of time that i was left ( 3weeks ).
This was one shop that i went to in brixton where they sell urban T-shirts and Jeans.
I asked the manger to the shop if it was alright to sell the brand t-shirts in there shop for exposure.
The guy said it was alright for the T-shirts to be sold in he's shop for a week.
After the agreement was made by the manger, selected an area where the could hang up some T-shirts.
The manger give the Brand T-shirt 5/6 out of 10 which was ok. I would of given my T-shirt 8/9 out of 10.
He is an image was the manger who agreed to sell the product t-shirts in he's shop. I also left some Flyers with him in case they wanted to know more about urbanize-it and where they was purchase it.
Urbanize-It is on the Go!
Here is a image i took of the brand urbanize-it T-Shirt in black and white with the promotion flyer we made.
Close up image of the design iron transfer printed on the t-shirts with shiny glue stones i brought separately at the side of the brand design, to give it that bling.
Here also created the labelling for T-shirt urbanize-it, which was replaced. i very loved doing this because it give the t-shirt the finishing touch. I used a Ribbon and stitched it in, with the printed Logo.
Urbanize-It Wallpapers and Flyers
After Making i took images of people wearing the t-shirt. i decided to make flyers as another way of promoting the brand into Shops, Markets and Schools.

Above i made some wallpapers for part of the flyers mainly.

This is a copy of the digital flyer made by myself. I thought about the look and design of the flyer, in relationship with the urbanize it logo (Theme). Shuhel wrote the description of what the company brand is all about, which wanted to be sweet and short for customers to read.
Urbanize-It: Modelling
I made some samples of the t-shirt urbanize-it on blank tops that i orderd through These were iron transfer prints. After did about 5 tops, i decided to go and find people (models) who could wear the brand to take pictures for promotion.
i couldn't find much people who were willing to do it for free, without being paid. Eventually i just used some 2 guys i knew and my brother.
This is image is the best one and friend took for me when i give him a copy of the brand that he seen intersted in.
This is one of my brother wearing the t-shirt.
camera shots of my business partner Shuhel amhed who was up to wearing it for a few images where me were getting abit despearate. Lol
Here is picture of a class mate wearing the ladies t-shirt brand. this was taken on my phone where the quality didnt come out so well.

Promoting Organisation Stratergies
I was thinking about how the business trademark (urbanize-it) can be spread across a whole nation of people. i thought that the fastest way of doing this was to use the internet. Billions of people use the internet a day all around the world for something. if i was going to promote my trademark, then the best thing would be for me to promote it a community social site. Three of my best community social sites was Facebook, Twitter and Youtube that i use all the time. These were the top three social sites taht thousands of people are using a day.
Shuhel Amhed was the Marketing Manger for adverstising and promoting. Me and shuhel discuss about ways of how we can promote the brand urbanize-it.
So Shuhel created a Group facebook, Twitter and Youtube account that will be used to promote the brand and also gathering feedback.

Now that everything was getting in place, i thought that it would be good that urbanize-it had its only site where items could be purchase by. I've never done websites before which was tricky to do, but i was ambitious enough to do. i wasn't able to make the website running, but i was able to buy the domain site for the furture ahead.
Right now on the page is this webpage where you could purchase a copy through Gumtree until changes are make.
Designing Urbanize-It site. (Test temples)
Here i created some template of how i would like the urbanize-it website to look like if only i was a
web-designer. unfortunuately not! i may consider hiring someone to do it in the furture ahead.
I used photoshop to make the pages. I still needs alot of working but you can see the potential in the design of the page layout.

Urbanize-It: Branding T-shirt Designs
Now that the Logo Brand was done. i created some T-shirt Design in relation to the brand. The company Ecko did this a couple of times, which i found clever.
Design 1
Design 2
I though that this was a simple and classy design where you could purchase in a variety of colours.
(White, black, Red, Blue, Green, Pink, Orange, Purple and Grey)
Many people did like this design and recommended.
Design 3
My best design that i liked out of the Three. Simple and But still effective.
Could get this T-shirt in Black/White.
Final Logo Design (Urbanize-it)
Final Logo Brand Design.
Me and Shuhel agreed that this logo design above was going to be the official brand design. we both throught we could of done better but time wasn't on our side. i had to agree on the three samples of designs we had, an it was this.
First Design Logo (mockup)
This was a test to see how it would look like on a T-shirt.
Design Logo (Urbanize-it)
The Rough sketches were taken into photoshop where me and shuhel tried to settle with the look of the brand urbanize-it.
This is a rough design of the logo brand i started with from my sketchbook

Project Plan
Name of Enterprise
Urbanize It
Student Names
Leonard Onikoyi – Project Manager, Logo Branding/ Financial Manager
Shuhel Ahmed – Branding designer & Marketing Manager
Summary of Enterprise
The purpose of our enterprise is to sell specially designed t-shirts. The name of our t-shirt is called ‘Urbanize it’. This will be the name of our brand as well as the company. The reason why we decided on this business plan is because we want to expose and promote a t-shirt brand that we feel can offer something different and unique. The designs of the t-shirts will be urban and street style with a little bit of a techno and funk vibe added to it. The name of our brand will be the main logo as well the catalyst of what we are trying to promote and sell.
Measurable aims of Enterprise
Self Promotion of t-shirts – Online exposure via social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace.
Sell initially 12 t-shirts – Consisting of 3 three different designs. Male/female/Unisex and will amount to 4 t-shirts between the genders.
Keep within the minimum budget and try and reach maximum profit from sales.
Target Market
Our consumer target age will be between 16 to 30 years old. Specifically focusing on people from a student background as well as people who have interest in urban, grime, hip-hop and R&B music as well as art in the form of graffiti.
Promotion Strategy and Partnership
For promotion strategy we intend to promote our brand and product online through social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace. We will also be promoting and selling the t-shirts through bidding websites like Ebay. This will give us plenty of exposure since the Internet is a valuable and resourceful outlet for a more quicker and widespread awareness.
Budget
The minimum budget for our t-shirts will be £100 and the maximum £200.
The budget will be spent on acquiring the necessary tools and materials to create the t-shirts. Here is the list below of what we will need and how much it will cost.
Exit Strategy / Risk Management
The worst-case scenario is that we may not be able to shift and sell the t-shirts. And if we do manage to sell the t-shirts then there is a high possibility that we may not make a profit considering the fragile economic climate. If that happens where we are unable to make profit or sell the t-shirts within the time we have then its something we can continue within our own independent time, outside of the university and the actual assignment itself.

Chosen Idea
For my E&E Project, I decided to work partnership with Shuhel Amhed and myself, on designing and marketing T-shirts for sell. The Name of the our brand is called "Urbanize it!" which will be our offical trademark for our product.
Project Brief E&E
| Unit Introduction | In the Level 1 and Level 2 units of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, we have focused on: - spotting opportunities, - generating ideas and turning them into wealth creating opportunities - developing market insight and communication as key components of creative entrepreneurial endeavour. Now, in Level 3, attention turns to ‘making things happen’. This means taking a holistic view of creative entrepreneurial endeavour and the many factors that need to be organised and managed for successful creative enterprise. A key feature of the Level 3 unit will be to give you the opportunity to experience, as closely as possible, the ‘reality’ of entrepreneurial endeavour and the entrepreneurial way of life, deploying the entrepreneurial attributes, skills and behaviours cultivated during the previous two units. These include: - emotional intelligence, persistence, adaptability, resilience to failure; - the ability to make decisions and take calculated risks; - persuasive communication, particularly intelligent use of evidence, both financial and market related, in support of ideas; - confidence to cross boundaries into unfamiliar worlds to get the resources you need to make things happen. Through a mixture of lectures, talks by visiting experts, practical workshops, discussions and seminars, you will extend and consolidate your entrepreneurial knowledge and skill, and put it into practice via the unit project. The project will set a creative entrepreneurial challenge that reflects the complexity, buzz, highs and lows of the real entrepreneurial experience and way of life. On successful completion of the unit, you should feel confident in describing yourself as a creative entrepreneur. This means you will have learnt to: - Identify and understand relationships between the key elements which need to be considered, prioritised and managed to bring an idea to market, notably product or service; target market audience; people; resources (financial and physical); - Manage complexity, making judgements and decisions with incomplete data; - Build and utilise networks purposefully; - Conduct research, build evidence and construct a convincing case in support of an idea; - Plan the steps required to establish an entrepreneurial enterprise; - Communicate an idea, product/service concept and/or business case persuasively to a diverse range of audiences. |
| Project Brief | In the Level 3 project, you will come up with a business idea and carry out an enterprise. The enterprise can be based on a hobby / interest, based on a business opportunity you have stumbled upon or related to your course.
You will choose whether to work on your own or in a group, and whether to work with members of your own discipline or potentially to bring more varied expertise into the project by collaborating with people from different subject areas. You may choose to collaborate with someone outside of Ravensbourne. There will be some suggestions of types of ventures you could pursue on Moodle (these have been supplied by your main tutors). You will come up with an initial project plan including budget and action plan (Gantt chart) that will be handed in by the 28th of April. Throughout the unit you will be using your online learning (b)log to describe your research and learning, covering the process of launching your business including acquisition of skills, contacts and other resources. At the end of the unit you will analyse and review the project’s outcome and result in financial and other terms (we encourage using the ‘triple bottom line’ model). You are expected to analyse why there may be disparity between your initial forecast and the actual results and to tell us what lessons have been learned. There will be a template on Moodle to use as a guide for writing the project plan and the end report. AS mentioned above, each student will keep an online learning log and is required to submit a report and analysis of the learning journey (see below under assessable elements). Examples of what you should record in your learning (b)log: - Any interesting material you stumble upon which has to do with your enterprise or topics covered in E&E - Lecture notes - Notes from independent learning on the VLE (Moodle) - Research: findings along with critical evaluation of sources and methods used - Motivation for or reasoning behind decisions made throughout the process - Feedback: from friends, tutors, customers or whoever - Visual: Sketches, storyboards, visualization of ideas, photographs of your progress - Be aware of IP (copyright) and plagiarism. Do not cut and paste text into your blog other than as short citations clearly marked as such and make sure to reference where text and images are taken from. If using online material, there is generally no need to republish the material: instead write a description/summary and link to the original page. We are working in compliance with the institution's group working policy. Guidelines for how to manage group work can be found on Moodle. | ||||
| Teaching and Learning Strategies and E-Learning | Values, attitudes, knowledge and skills are gained primarily through lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical workshops, and self directed study as well as project based learning. The project will however be the main vehicle for knowledge and understanding, giving you an intensive and an ‘as close to real as possible’ experience of entrepreneurial endeavour. Visiting speakers, including entrepreneurs, are deployed both to inspire and relate your learning to the real world. Traditional modes of delivery are supported by the VLE. Changes to curriculum are live fed and there are resources, forums and areas in which to upload work online through Moodle. For project updates you are required to regularly check your emails and unit specific content in Moodle. | ||||
| Learning Outcomes | In order to pass this unit, students must demonstrate the following learning outcomes have been achieved: A1 Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the key characteristics of entrepreneurial endeavour and the entrepreneurial way of life B1 Demonstrate an ‘I can’ attitude that facilitates exploration of uncharted territory, overcoming obstacles and learning from failures to make a project work C1 Demonstrate ability to identify and overcome issues inherent in working with people with different mental models and knowledge sets C2 Demonstrate ability to identify and analyse strategic and market factors and synthesise data to develop viable solutions E1 Demonstrate the ability to communicate an entrepreneurial idea, or complex data, simply and persuasively, using appropriate media E2 Develop an action plan in support of development or realisation of entrepreneurial endeavour D1 Identify, build and use professional networks in support of a proposition | ||||
| Assessment Criteria |
| ||||
| Assessable Elements and Submission Requirements |
